I am confused, :?:

I am researching HKB 13/983 Grötavär II and HKB 13/983 elgsnes. They have different coordinates.
On the list i have Elgsnes is not present within any artillery group, so i got the idea this is the same battery as HKB 13/983 Grötavär II.

Also i wonder wich atillery group HKB 13/983 Elgsnes belongs to.

I hope someone can answer my question.

I have been wondering about the "Grötavaer II" battery myself. The name/number could suggest the battery was moved from Elgsnes to Grøtavær later in the war, but there's no mentioning of this in Fjørtofts book or other sources that I have seen. Neither are there any remains - as far as I can tell - at Grøtavær that suggest two batteries were located here at the same time, and I assume HKB 12./983 Grötavaer were in place until the end of the war (remains visible here: http://1881.to/nxz8Sx )?

Remains of the battery-position at Elgsnes are clearly visible here: http://1881.to/K1RLQZ

I assume it was Artillerie-Gruppe Andsfjord (HKAA II/983)?

Perhaps JEF can shed some light on this?

First of all, I have never seen or heard any info on a battery called Grötavær II. Perhaps a mixup with the Cold War Era 15 cm Battery at Grötavær, which had the guns originally mounteed as Store Korsnes II in the Altafjord?

Art.Gruppe Andsfjord (II/HKAR 983 at Bremnes)
Established as Art.Gruppe Harstad West in June 1941 under H.K.A.A. 483, from January 1943 redesignated II./H.K.A.R. 973. In november 1943 redesignated to II./H.K.A.R. 983 and renamed Art.Gruppe Andsfjord.
12.HKAR 983 Grötavaer - 4x15,5 cm K418(f)
13/HKAR 983 Elgsnes - 4x15,5 cm K418(f)
14/HKAR 983 Bremnes - 4x14,5 cm K405(f) (Originally 4x15,5 cm sFH414(f)).
15/HKAR 983 Aspenes - 6x15,5 cm sFH414(f) (Originally 4x15,5 cm sFH414(f) - polish version).
All 4 batteries established in May-June 1941.

The mix up must have something to do with the cold war, maybe there lies the reason the name Grötavär II pops up. I dont know why the same number as Elgsnes is mentioned, but i assume that its part of the mix up. After the war they placed 2 pairs of twin mounted 15 cm SKC/28 in the R636 bunkers, what i can find is that they belonged to the Altafjord battery you mentioned.

Anyway, thank you for replying ! I will continue my reasearch on Elgsnes.

No... The new fortress was built in the 60's as a completely new construction in the mountain with the guns installed in casemattes connected with tunnels to the main facility.
The orginal german R636 commandbunker was reused as a backup commandpost for the new fortress and connected to the mountain-facility by an underground passage in concrete.

Some information and photos/drawings from the cold-war fortress here: viewtopic.php?f=48&t=1840/

My mistake about the R636...... I thougt the old artillery bunkers where re-used for the other guns. on photos i found it seems that it are those bunkers.
