Fra Bokn i sør, Stord i nord og Sauda i øst lå flere gode havner langs skipsleden som utgjorde potensielle invasjonsmål på en relativt isolert og veifattig stor halvøy. I tillegg fantes her viktig industri som måtte beskyttes mot fiendtlige angrep, både fra sjø, luft og land. Også som i vikingetiden, Karmsundet (dengang Nordvegen) , som sparte tyske konvoier for å eksponere seg i havet vest for Karmøy.

Det er en steinerskole nedenfor stillingene noe som kan være årsak til den kjedelige skrablingen på veggene PDT_Armataz_01_19

passer perfekt, stangen som er nedmurt kjente jeg øyeblikkelig igjen da det er den universale typen som er på tyske trefoter for optikk.
